While every quilt and quiltmaker are special in many ways, some quilts have no known histories that relate their special qualities. Fortunately, some historic quilts have had extensive histories passed along with them, and in some cases quilt documentation and interviews of quiltmakers have uncovered interesting details about the making and use of certain quilts. In other cases, research reveals fascinating information on quilting communities and families and specific patterns and their history in Louisiana. This type of information collected during this quilt research project provides the basis for the following essays. Enjoy the wonderful array of quilts and quilters featured below!
